Amelia's 7th & 8th Months

Stats: (Measurements taken at home-no 8 month check up)

  • 19 pounds
  • 29.5 inches long
Eating:
  • 4-6 oz of formula every 4ish hours
  • Pretty much anything we eat mashed up. I let her feed herself a lot of the time, and she loves it, but it is a huge mess. She's getting better and better and picking up the little pieces. She loves yogurt melts, veggie puffs, and cubed bananas. And sister will go to town on a graham cracker. So cute.
Sleeping:
  • She's started to transition to just 2 naps a day--one around 9:00 AM, another around 2:30 PM. She officially outgrew the swing at the end of month 7, so instead I rock her and feed her a bottle right before naptime. Then she sleeps in the crib.
  • Bedtime is between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. She'll wake up around 12:00 AM to eat a 6 ounces and then back to sleep until 6:30 AM.
Wearing:
  • Size 3 diapers
  • 9 month onsies, and dresses, 12 month sleepers, and 18 month pants! Eeek! (I'm really thinking Target's baby pants run small though...)
Tricks and Miscellaneous Skills:
  • She officially mastered sitting up on her own at 8 months.
  • She is so good at playing with toys now. The cutest thing.
  • Her hair is really filling in quickly, but she is still a little fuzz ball. Love it.
  • Still loves peek-a-boo, and pretty much any game that involves silly high pitched voices.
  • She likes to be scared. If you pop up suddenly and say "HELLO!" she jumps at first, and then laughs and laughs.
  • She started scrunching up her nose sometimes when she smiles. I cannot get enough.
  • Lots of chewing on things, but no teeth yet.
  • She can say the "babababa" sounds, and is pretty good at "dadadada" sounds. I might roar at her a little too much because she definitely picked that up quick. She loves to say "rawrrawrrawr" in a squeaky hoarse voice.
  • Loves to bite and stick out her tongue (Just like her Grandpa Hansen)
  • If there is an electronic device or cord in the room, she will find it. And chew it.
  • She tries so hard to figure out this crawling thing. She'll get in the hands and knees position and then lunge forward onto her belly. So close.

Steaksgiving 2013

We've kept the same Thanksgiving tradition going for 4 years now. Wednesday and Thursday we spend with Cory's grandparents on the St. John's river for a super traditional  This year we attempted to take some group pictures by the river. Everyone hated it, and the whole experience was really fun. I also attempted to make a cheesecake for the occasion. The good news is, it looked pretty. So that's something, right?

Every year (and I hardly think this is a tradition limited to our family) we go around and say what we're thankful for.  I know I'm such a sappy mylamepants, but I got so teary eyed when it came to be my turn. I'm so thankful for my little family. I'm so lucky to have her and Cory.

Oh geez. I got teary eyed just typing that. Anyways...

After eating as much turkey and squash casserole as our bellies could hold, we head over to my parent's house for Steaksgiving. Which is exactly what it sounds like. This year we added a little birthday cake for Nathaniel, Tanya and Cory.  Cake and Steak. That's what I'm talking about.

This picture makes me so happy. Cheesin' hard.
Amelia's first golf cart ride.
I told Amelia that she's gotta watch out for hop-ons.

Little sickie baby

The last 30 days are not ones I would like to repeat. Amelia started throwing up one weekend (so scary.) to..ahem, other tummy troubles later the next week. Once we were done with that, she developed a cough that sounded like a 40 year old smoker. Which turned into a running, stuffy nose that lasted for a few days. That cough is still lingering (fingers crossed these antibiotics do the trick this week.), and hopefully once that clears up we'll have a healthy little baby on our hands for a while.

It was so pitiful to see her sick (The throwing up was definitely the scariest/saddest. She looked so confused about what was happening). Everyone at the doctor's office knows us on sight now. I knew kids got sick, but I just didn't expect it to be quite so often. The good news is, I haven't cried about it in a pharmacy this time, so I'd say we're making progress.

As cute as they are, I hope we don't see these little sickie faces again for a while.

Amelia's 5th & 6th Months in Review

Stats:
(At 6 month check up)

  • 17 pounds (62% for weight)
  • 28.5 inches long  (95% for height)
Eating:

  • 4 oz of formula every 3-4 hours
  • Started solids at 5 months--she's tried Squash, Sweet Potatoes, Avocado, Peas, Green Beans, Carrots, and Rice Cereal. We're going to introduce Fruit this month...just as soon as I go grocery shopping...
  • She'll only eat store-bought baby food. Every time I make her puree from scratch she gags. I'm thinking my food processor just can't get it the right consistency.
Sleeping:

  • She'll take three naps a day--one around 9:00 AM, a little one around 11:30 or 12:00 and another around 2:30ish PM. She takes them in her swing and I know I need to transition her to the crib but I'm dreading it. Sister loves to be rocked.
  • Bedtime is between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. She'll wake up around 3:00 AM to eat a few ounces and then back to sleep until 6:30 or 7:00 AM.
Wearing:

  • Size 3 diapers (she wore size 2 for a total of 3 weeks, then it was up to size 3)
  • 9-12 month onsies and sleepers, 12-18 month pants
Tricks and Miscellaneous Skills:

  • Jumping, and jumping, and jumping for as long as you'll hold her up on your lap.
  • Rolling everywhere she wants to go
  • Peek-a-boo is her favorite game, just saying the word is enough to make her giggle
  • Supported sitting--so close to sitting up on her own
  • Grabbing anything and everything (and it goes straight into her tiny mouth)
  • Buzzes those little lips
  • Loves to be tickled, and play silly games
  • Loves to screech and babble
  • Completely lights up when Daddy walks in the door after work. It is the cutest thing to see her excited little smile, and tiny pumping legs! (She lights up for me when I come home from work on Wednesdays too. Makes my day!)
