Benjamin's 1st 6 months

Holy cow! how is this kid 6 months??

1-3 Months

Stats:
Newborn: 9 lbs 5 oz, 22 inches
2 Days: 8 lbs 11 oz, 22.5 inches
2 weeks: 9 lbs 8.5 oz, 23 inches
1 month:
2 months: 13 lbs 3 oz (80th percentile), 25.5 inches (95th percentile)

Benjamin is super alert most of the time, and so good natured. We got his first real smiles at 3 months, and he just gives them away! All you have to do is look at him and say "Hiiiiiii baby" and he'll give you the biggest grin.
The toots on this one are unreal. Even in the hospital he could stink. it. up. The cutest little stink I ever did smell.
He sleeps pretty well. The first month was the hardest, just getting to know each other and figure this nursing thing out. We kind of took over the room and Daddy slept on the couch for those early weeks while we figured a routine out. But, at month 2 we knew what we were doing. He sleeps in a little bassinet by my side of the bed, and when he wakes up to eat (about 3 times a night) we sit in the orange armchair with the boppy. I fall asleep most of the time, and end up with a sore neck, but he loves the cuddles.
Benjamin loves to cuddle and be held. He's happiest when you let him hang out in the crook of your arms and see everything. As long as he can see the action, he's very content to just chill and take it all in.
He has these ridiculously cute wrinkles in his forehead that pop up when he's surprised. His eyebrows are so expressive, and his eyes get so big when he is startled or surprised or concerned for his safety (all of which happens a lot with a big sister around...).
He is just so good natured and only ever cries when he's hungry. Once you feed him, he's back to his happy little self.

3-6 months

Stats:
5 months: 15 lbs 9.5 oz (70th percentile), 27.5 inches (99th percentile)

Benjamin is now wary of big sister. One too many bops on the head for his liking. He watches her carefully and is gonna get her back one of these days.
He started rolling over onto his belly at 3.5 months, and perfected his technique by 4.5 months. Now he's a rolling machine.
His first big laughs came at 4 months, and haven't really stopped since. He thinks Daddy is so funny and loves when Daddy makes silly noises at him. Amelia can get him going too and those two laughing at each other is just about the best sound in the world. Cory found a whoopee cushion and blew it in Benjamin's face a few times and that is the best joke Benjamin has ever heard. He laughed hysterically every single time. Such a boy. :)
When he got his 4 month shots I was prepared for a 10 minute-inconsolable-sob-fest (like I got from Amelia). I was all amped up and prepared for it. They had me hold his little tiny arms, while they stuck his tiny little thighs. He made the saddest frown, and then let out two offended little yells. I picked him up, rubbed his back for a second, and then he was quiet....I held him up and he SMILES at the nurses. And he was just his charming little person again. He felt pretty sad later when the side effects kicked in, but he really took it like a champ. My tough guy.
We stuck him in a walker around 5.5 months, and he was so, so happy. He froggy kicks himself around, and is really getting good at it. He loves being able to chase Amelia and plunder in things on his own. I turned on the vacuum while he was in it the other day, and he whipped his whole body around so quick to see what the ruckus was about. Then he scooted himself right over and followed me around while I cleaned up our messy floors.
Nursing is going pretty well. He's had a few bottles here and there, but mostly he nurses. He recognizes his bottle though, and if he see's it he will get it. Sometimes he catches Amelia with a bottle (not often...only when all the sippy cups are dirty...), and then he won't stop until he has one too. Or until he has taken hers.
We love to call him little nicknames: Baby Boy, Stinkerpot,  Benja-baby!, Benja-BOY!, Benny Boo, Buddy, Little Man and Sir Toots-a-lot are all in heavy rotation.

Oh Benjamin. You are so sweet and just. so. good. You have the brightest little eyes, and love to smile and interact with people. Everyday I get to hold your little tiny baby self and feel like the luckiest person in the whole world. You are our special, happy, strong baby boy, and we couldn't be happier that you are here and you are ours.
